WELCOME TO THE TABLE
PeaceMeals brings communities together – through life’s ups and downs, and often in the aftermath of tough seasons – in the kitchen and around the dinner table for nutrition education and interactive cooking classes. But there is an important twist: each meal is nutritionally-tailored to help address the way that real life takes a toll on our bodies and minds.
In this world of instant gratification and virtual realities, PeaceMeals helps individuals (re)learn the art of savoring, and (re)find meaningful connection and vitality.
PeaceMeals seeks to impact society as a whole, by changing the way we break bread with each other and nourish ourselves.
At a PeaceMeal, you will learn how to select foods to nourish yourself, learn skills for cooking and managing what what life throws your way, and build a community of like-minded individuals.
PeaceMeals is not a diet program or group therapy or medical advice. And it is more than the average cooking class or dinner party, because it focuses on three C’s:
1. Creativity – No need to be a Top Chef. The act of getting your hands dirty in a project can be cathartic…and fun! Even better: you get to eat this project in the end!
2. Community – Beyond a formal support group, PeaceMeals builds authentic community around a shared table. We laugh and tell stories and ask questions. We set goals and can hold each other accountable.
3. Cuisine – Each dish is purposefully selected to counter the ways that life beats up our bodies and minds. Bonus: the food is simple, tasty, and cost-effective!
PeaceMeals’ core value is to come alongside individuals in need of healing, regardless of resources or background. PeaceMeals partners with non-profit organizations that have “healing missions” to offer this education to all who could benefit from it.
The aim is for each guest to be better-equipped to make mindful choices for better health no matter their budget, to support each other, to learn practical skills, and eat some tasty food!
PeaceMeals is a place for you to enjoy yourself. So have a seat.
